The competition is now in its 18th year and continues to bring people to Elliston, Eyre Peninsula, in search of the big salmon
caught from surf fishing beaches between Sheringa and Mount Camel.
2012 sees a bit of a change to the structure of the Championship
with $1,000 cash up for grabs each month.
Winners will be announced at the end of June, July and August.
An extra $500 will be awarded to the angler with the overall heaviest fish at the end of the whole season.
Mystery Weight prizes of $300 will be offered fortnightly during the season.
Mystery Weights are just that, randomly selected weights put into envelopes at the beginning of the
season and only revealed at the end of each fortnight. The salmon closest to the mystery weight wins.
The Australian Salmon Fishing Championship is open to all so come and try your hand at catching the big one!
Tickets only cost $10 and are valid for the whole season.
Buy your own to be in the running for the lucky ticket prize, drawn at the end of the season.
There are also great prizes to be won in the West Coast Winter Raffle, including accommodation, fishing gear
and vouchers for local goods.
The Australian Salmon Fishing Championship is run by volunteers and is a community owned event,
this year it will be coming under the banner of the Elliston Community Information Centre.
We look forward to having a bumper year for participation in our 2012 contest..
GOOD LUCK!!
